January in Review

Wowowow, this month has flew by! It’s been a big month of growth for me – I hit 100 followers on Instagram at the beginning of January but by the end I had just over 400! It blows my mind that every time I post something, there are around 400 people that get to see what I put into the world 🌎. Thank you so much for your support!

What I made this month:

London Skirt – Selkie Patterns

dsc_0038

Fabric: red gingham cotton from Joann Fabrics

Time: 2 hours

Thoughts: My first midi skirt, love the fun notch on the waistband!

Would I make again? YES! So many fabrics would go well with this skirt 😍

Minttu Swing Top – Named Clothing

Fabric: pink scuba knit from High Fashion Fabrics in Houston

Time: 5 hours! Mostly because the facing was so confusing.

Thoughts: Indie Sew has a great YouTube tutorial on how to do the facing! I feel like the next time I attempt this it would only be like 2 hours

Would I make again? Yes! I’ll definitely be on the lookout for some jersey knit remnants to make this top again – I love the cut and the facing 😍

Official review coming soon!

Stevie Dress – Tilly and the Buttons

Fabric: IKEA woven cotton fabric, Stretch Crepe Knit from Joann Fabrics

Time: 2 hours

Thoughts: love love love – 10/10 pattern! So easy and straightforward

Would I make again? If I could have an entire wardrobe full of these dresses I would 😀🌟👌🏼

Sierra Jumpsuit – Papercut Patterns

Fabric: chambray bedsheet from Goodwill

Time: entire day

Thoughts: love how this turned out! I’ve actually worn this out twice and it’s craaazy comfy – I mean it’s literally a bedsheet 😂

Would I make again? Absolutely! I’m planning to make the shorts version for a fun summer romper ☀️

Very Easy Vogue 9075

Fabric: green linen from Joann Stores, a remnant of home decor fabric from Joann’s as well! Also made a version in flannel.

Time: one evening

Thoughts: fun pattern, I think I like the culottes version better than the dress because I like pleats!

Would I make again? Probably! I think the bodice fits well and would maybe combine the bodice with a different skirt.

Cleo Dungarees – Tilly and the Buttons

dsc_0053

Fabric: heavyweight fabric from a curtain purchased at Goodwill

Time: 2 hours

Thoughts: super fun project, great to work on topstitching 🙌🏼

Would I make again? Yes! I would get smaller buckles as they are a little big … I’d also try hand embroidering the pocket!

Peppermint Peplum Top

dsc_0074

Fabric: rayon from Stevie Saint Fabrics on Etsy

Time: 3 hours

Thoughts: such a fun and flowy top, easy to wear! But man oh man I hate making binding and gathers – I love the outcome but really do not enjoy the process as much 😬

Would I make again? Maaaaybe. I would like to try a dress version and I’ve seen a few versions on Instagram that turned out well!

Morning Glory Top

Processed with VSCO with g3 preset

Fabric: quilting cotton from Joann Fabrics

Time: 2 hours

Thoughts: super quick make, loved how their was no pattern to cut out and that it was just based on your own measurements

Would I make again? I’m thinking about it. If I find some cheap linen I would like to! Or I could use some upcycled fabric from Goodwill.

Phew – clearly I had a busy month! How did your 2019 start off? Did you find any patterns that you absolutely fell in love with??

Happy February!!

Danica
